Despite astonishing growth and cultural transformation, it will take several decades for these nations to eliminate all traces of Stalin's influence and that of other Soviet rulers - seen in architecture, city design and the ever-present, almost identical tower blocks of apartments.  It will also take another decade or two for the post-Soviet generation to become the dominant force.  Those who grew up under Communism tend to have a very different outlook to those whose entire adult life has been lived after the fall of the old system.  In the meantime we continue to see a cultural gap in the workplace, offices, factories and communities of the entire region."
