Bone marrow and other tissues could repair your brain, spinal cord and heart and cure diabetes or old-age blindness. Adult stem cells research promises investor returns while embryonic stem cells and therapeutic cloning raise major ethical, legal, and image problems.

CEOs of the world's largest companies are struggling to keep pace with the impact of digital technology and many are being left behind, placing their corporations at risk in the medium to longer term. Their own senior teams also lack basic IT skills and understanding, without which they cannot steer their corporations into the next millennium. Despite this, corporations are failing to address the problem.

The impact of the genetic revolution on health services.

The genetic revolution will completely redefine the meaning of health, transform disease management and totally wipe out many diseases. It will also create huge resource problems and urgent ethical dilemmas. The same tools to destroy cancer and cure diabetes could also permanently alter the human race. Hong Kong Telecom said recently it could spend up to $10 billion over 10 years on its interactive television service. A soft launch is scheduled for July, while the full scale launch is scheduled for October. Hong Kong Telecom said it has already invested $200 million in the venture. The service would offer video-on-demand, home shopping and home banking and allow customers to use normal phone lines to send and receive information to the TV screens. The Strategis Group study says, "Internet subscriptions revenue in Asia/Pacific region is forecast to grow from $2.9 billion in 1996 to nearly $14 billion by 2001".
