Comment on video made in 2007 on Kazakhstan economic outlook. "Kazakhstan is an extraordinary and vibrant, welcoming nation with rich cultural heritage, the size of Western Europe, directly bordering Russia to the North, and of huge importance to the future of energy and coal - yet few people in Europe or America can place it on a map.  The nation was the location of many gulags or Soviet labour camps, one of which was the size of Wales in the UK.  Kazakstan was also a hub for nuclear weapons research (with some land contamination from nuclear testing) and was also a base for the Soviet space programme."
